Following a successful karting career that peaked with his victory at the 2014 Karting World Championship, Norris quickly moved to junior formulae, where he continued to impress.

Norris made his mark in single-seater racing in 2015, winning the MSA Formula Championship (now known as British F4) with Carlin Motorsport. In 2016, he continued his partnership with Carlin, securing multiple championships, including the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, and the prestigious Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, making him one of the most exciting drivers of his generation.

In 2017, Norris won the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Carlin, earning him a place on the McLaren Young Driver Programme. In 2018, Norris continued his series rise in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, finishing as runner-up to George Russell, again with Carlin, proving his readiness for his step up to F1.

Norris made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2019, partnering with Carlos Sainz in what would become one of the most exciting young driver pairings on the grid. Despite being a rookie, Norris quickly impressed finishing 11th in the 2019 Drivers’ Championship. His 2020 season saw him achieve his maiden podium finish at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, confirming his potential as a future race winner and in 2021, Norris continued to build on his early success, securing his first pole position at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix, although a race win eluded him after a late-race incident in wet conditions.

In 2024, with the rise of McLaren gaining momentum, Norris secured his maiden career victory at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. He followed this breakthrough with dominant wins at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort and the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, winning both races by over 20 seconds. As of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Norris has achieved three race wins, six pole positions, 10 fastest laps, and 24 podium finishes.

His contract with McLaren extends until the end of 2027.
