Simone Resta Exits Haas

Simone Resta, serving as the Technical Director for Haas, has completed his term with the American team. Insights from Formula1.com suggest his return to Ferrari, but not within their Formula 1 team.

According to sources, Resta’s new position at Ferrari, which encompasses a sports car division and an automotive operation at their Maranello base, is yet to be specified.

Resta, chief designer at Ferrari from 2014 to 2018, initially joined Haas for the 2021 season on a loan basis from Ferrari after a tenure as the head of the technical department at Alfa Romeo.

F1.com has revealed that his loan period concluded at the end of the 2023 season, prompting a return to Ferrari.

His exit marks a period of significant change for Haas, as Team Principal Guenther Steiner also recently departed, having led the team since its 2016 F1 inception.

Steiner’s successor is Ayao Komatsu, the former Director of Engineering, but Resta’s replacement as the technical department lead remains undecided.

Haas is also actively seeking a Chief Operating Officer overseeing all non-competitive aspects, including HR, administration, finance, marketing, and communications.
