Williams Secures 2024 F1 Lineup with Logan Sargeant

Logan Sargeant is set to compete in the 2024 Formula 1 season following Williams’ confirmation of a new contract with the American driver.

As the Formula 1 season drew to a close at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the future of Logan Sargeant with Williams remained the last unresolved driver lineup question for the upcoming season. The team’s hesitance in finalising their decision raised questions about Sargeant’s continuity.

Williams team principal, James Vowles, had previously stated that Sargeant’s contract extension would depend on his ability to meet specific performance goals. The announcement of his contract renewal implies that Sargeant has successfully met these criteria.

Sargeant said: “I am thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season. It has been an incredible journey with the team so far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a driver within such a talented and dedicated group. We have exciting plans for the future, and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success in the coming year.”

Vowles said: “I am pleased to continue our journey with Logan into the 2024 season. Logan has demonstrated immense skill whilst under the pressure of the world stage, making him a perfect fit for our team. We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season.”

Williams has shown faith in his potential despite a challenging rookie season, where the 22-year-old scored his first championship point after 18 races and finished 21st in the overall standings. Sargeant’s season, however, was marked by several setbacks, including not completing four races and crashing out, with reported damages of £3.4 million, which will surely be a point of concern for Vowles and the team moving forward.
