The 2024 F1 season, which will be contested over a record-breaking 24 Grand Prix weekends, starts in March and concludes in December.
Ten teams and 22 drivers will compete for the coveted Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championship titles, with Max Verstappen defending the Drivers’ title alongside his team, Red Bull Racing, the current reigning Constructors’ Champions.
Season
The only change to the drivers’ lineup from the start of 2023 is Daniel Ricciardo taking over for Nyck de Vries at the team previously known as AlphaTauri after he stepped in at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. Consequently, all driver and team pairings that participated in the final race of the previous season are set to remain the same at the beginning of the 2024 season, marking a first in F1 history.

Red Bull showed their strength again, with Max Verstappen taking his second pole of the season. He was closely followed by Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez in third.

Race start time: 15:00
Circuit: Albert Park
Laps: 58
Circuit length: 5.278km

After a two-week break, Max Verstappen came into the third race weekend of the ’24 season in a buoyant mood after taking pole and the win at both of the season’s opening two races. Alongside teammate Sergio Perez, he also led home a Red Bull one-two finish in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Touching down, down under, the paddock arrived at the Australian Grand Prix to race at one of the biggest highlights of the F1 season. A weekend that now attracts well over 450,000 fans throughout the three days in Melbourne.

Carlos Sainz led Ferrari to a one-two finish alongside Charles Leclerc, with Lando Norris securing his season’s first podium.

Round 4: Japanese Grand Prix
Race date: Sunday, April 7, 2024
Race start time: 14:00
Circuit: Suzuka International Racing Course
Laps: 53
Circuit length: 5.807km
2023 winner: Max Verstappen
Unlike in previous seasons, when Suzuka featured in September or October, the Japanese Grand Prix appeared much earlier in April, at a time of the year when locals and fans could enjoy the impressive cherry blossoms in bloom. But who would leave Suzuka the happiest come Sunday?
During qualifying, Max Verstappen narrowly pipped his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez to secure pole position, with Perez’s final attempt bringing him to within just 0.066 seconds of Verstappen’s leading time of 1:28.197. It was Red Bull’s first front-row lockout since the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix, remarkable considering their dominance but reflective of Sergio Perez’s occasional struggles to leverage his car’s performance advantage.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen clinched a convincing win, rebounding from an unexpected DNF in Melbourne with a third one-two finish for Red Bull in 2024. Carlos Sainz narrowly beat his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc for third after the race saw an early red flag due to a collision between Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon.

2024 Formula 1 Standings
Points for the 2024 Formula 1 season are allocated to the top ten finishers, along with the driver clocking the fastest lap in the Grand Prix, provided they are among the top ten and to the top eight participants in the Sprint Race. When there’s a tie in points, the tie-breaker involves comparing the number of Grand Prix victories each driver has. If they have the same number of wins, the number of second-place finishes is considered, followed by third places, and so on.
